SEALSQ Targets 2026 Prototype for Post-Quantum QASIC Chip
SEALSQ Corp, the Nasdaq-listed post-quantum semiconductor firm, has provided an update on QASIC, its custom chip project designed to embed post-quantum cryptography into customer-owned silicon. The company, in conjunction with its French design subsidiary IC’Alps, is targeting a first prototype in 2026. This announcement outlines a future roadmap rather than a currently available product.

The August 26 press release describes QASIC as an initiative combining SEALSQ’s post-quantum cryptography with IC’Alps’ ASIC design expertise. The primary target markets include cybersecurity hardware, connected medical devices, and automotive systems, which are sectors where chips typically remain in service long enough to outlast current encryption standards. SEALSQ refers to QASIC as an “end-to-end sovereign platform,” a term it frequently applies to its own endeavors.
Currently, no prototype exists. The announcement indicates that SEALSQ and IC’Alps are “advancing” toward a first prototype anticipated in 2026, and it details what this milestone “is expected to demonstrate.”
The release doesn’t report on any fabricated chips, benchmarks, or customer deployments. The listed foundry partners, including TSMC, GlobalFoundries, and Intel Foundry, represent IC’Alps’ existing manufacturing relationships, not specific commitments tied to QASIC.
Regarding cryptography, SEALSQ mentions post-quantum security without specifying which algorithms QASIC will implement. The NIST-standardized schemes (under FIPS 203, 204, and 205) are the vetted options. The release doesn’t clarify whether QASIC hardware will support these or alternative algorithms. Until it names specific algorithms, the claim of “quantum-resistant” remains an intention.
Marketing vs. reality
SEALSQ’s previous communications have consistently used the “Quantum Corridor” terminology, referring to its operations spanning Switzerland, France, Spain, the United States, Korea, and the UAE; and it reiterates this language here. The company also states that QASIC “represents more than an individual semiconductor product,” which is marketing for a chip no one has produced yet.
CEO Carlos Moreira linked the initiative to product longevity.
“These products and infrastructures may remain operational for many years, making it essential to integrate post-quantum security at the semiconductor-design stage,” said Carlos Moreira, CEO of SEALSQ.
This rationale is legit for any long-lived device, and the “harvest-now-decrypt-later” risk is a legitimate reason to plan early migration strategies. For QASIC, the tangible facts are an existing subsidiary partnership and a prototype aimed for 2026. Everything beyond these points is future projection.
