Quantinuum and Oracle Plan Helios Access Through OCI


Quantinuum and Oracle say they’ve signed a multi-year partnership to put Quantinuum’s Helios quantum computer inside Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (QCI). The companies announced the deal on August 12, 2026, presenting it as a way for OCI customers to access Helios without buying hardware. Nothing has shipped yet: Oracle plans to preview a quantum service “in the coming months,” and neither company disclosed the deal’s value, a launch date, or any named paying customer.

What the companies committed to

Specifically, the August 11 announcement lays out a plan, not a live service. Indeed, Oracle says it will preview an OCI quantum service that provides managed access to Helios and tools for building quantum-classical applications. The companies said they will explore hybrid quantum AI and high-performance computing projects in materials, pharmaceuticals, logistics, energy, and financial modeling. That list describes intended use cases, not delivered results.

Helios itself is already commercial. Quantinuum launched the trapped-ion system in November 2025 as its third-generation machine. The 98-physical-qubit computer has run demonstrations using 48 logical qubits and reports an average two-qubit gate fidelity of 99.921%, above the “three 9s” threshold often cited as a milestone. Quantinuum, which trades on Nasdaq under QNT, also reported a 279% revenue jump in its first earnings report since going public.

Quantinuum calls Helios “the most accurate commercial quantum computer in the world,” a company claim rather than an independently verified ranking. The release also says a single Helios draws less than one percent of the power reported for leading supercomputers, an estimate from Quantinuum that isn’t tied to a published benchmark.

What’s disclosed and what isn’t

Financial terms are absent: no contract value, no revenue projection, and no timeline beyond “coming months” for the preview. Oracle describes the future service as combining Quantinuum’s development stack with support for open-source hybrid-programming frameworks so developers could move from simulation to hardware. The company describes that capability as planned, not yet delivered.

One named research group signaled early interest. Johannes Blaschke, Head of Scientific Computing at the Ellison Institute of Technology, said having both GPUs and QPUs in OCI would help his team.

IDC’s Heather West, the firm’s Global Quantum Research Lead, framed the deal this way:

“As quantum computing moves closer to enterprise adoption, simplifying how organizations access and integrate quantum resources has become just as important as advancing the hardware itself.”

For the time being, the substance is an announced integration and a promised preview. The hardware exists and its specs are on record. The cloud service that would let Oracle customers use it does not yet, and the companies haven’t said when it will.
