Michael E. Tobar
Professor Michael E. Tobar is a physicist at the University of Western Australia and Director of its Quantum Technologies and Dark Matter Research Laboratory. His research spans quantum and precision measurement, frequency metrology, dark-matter detection and precision tests of fundamental physics. He leads the ORGAN axion dark-matter detector collaboration. His contributions have been recognised through major national and international awards, including being named Western Australian Scientist of the Year, the Australian Institute of Physics’ Harrie Massey Medal, the European Frequency and Time Award, and the IEEE C. B. Sawyer Memorial Award. Tobar is a Fellow of the IEEE, the Australian Academy of Science, the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, and the Australian Institute of Physics.
