Eclypses, Sterling Target US Agencies With Quantum Security


Eclypses has selected systems integrator Sterling as its preferred partner to market its MicroToken Exchange technology to US government agencies. This collaboration is a go-to-market agreement between the two companies, not a signed federal contract or an existing deployment within any specific agency.

Agreement details

Specifically, Eclypses develops MicroToken Exchange (MTE), a technology that encrypts data at the payload level, transforming each message into what the company describes as a one-time, self-verifying object. MTE holds FIPS 140-3 validation, which certifies the construction and testing of cryptographic modules. However, this validation doesn’t indicate post-quantum certification. 

The August 18 press release doesn’t specify whether MTE utilizes NIST-standardized post-quantum algorithms like ML-KEM or ML-DSA, or a proprietary scheme. Eclypses characterizes its approach as a “NIST approach to quantum resistance for data in transit,” though the specific algorithms underpinning this claim are not detailed.

Sterling’s role involves delivery. Indeed, the company states it has established a quantum practice and will integrate MTE with its existing services for federal clients. Neither company has identified an agency that has purchased or implemented the product. The partnership itself is the primary news, with both parties providing their perspectives on the arrangement.

The companies are positioning their solution in response to two Executive Orders issued by the White House on June 22, 2026, which establish federal deadlines for replacing vulnerable cryptography. Eclypses asserts it’s possible to integrate MTE into existing systems within hours, addressing the “harvest now, decrypt later” risk.

This risk, wherein adversaries store encrypted traffic today for decryption by future, more capable quantum computers, is a real and widely discussed concern within the sector, despite the current non-existence of such machines.

Commentary and claims

Regarding the quantum threat, Sterling CTO Chris Cyr offered a more concrete perspective:

“I’ve spent more than a decade working in and around quantum computing, and I can tell you that the ramifications of widespread CRQC adoption aren’t theoretical anymore, they’re imminent, and they’re staggering.”

Eclypses CEO David Gomes described the product as enabling agencies to make “one investment” that addresses both current vulnerabilities and future post-quantum requirements. Time will tell whether federal buyers will concur, and at what cost.
