Postquant Labs Launches Shared Quantum Network to Guard Blockchain Assets


Postquant Labs has rolled out Quip Network, a decentralized protocol that pools idle quantum computing power to defend up to $20 billion in blockchain assets. The company says the system answers a 2027 deadline set by the U.S. National Security Agency, which requires new federal technology contracts to adopt quantum-resistant standards. CEO Colton Dillion described the project in an interview with crypto.news.

How the network scales and verifies work

Quip Network treats quantum hardware differently from how traditional data centers grow. Legacy facilities add power by duplicating racks of graphics processing units. Quantum machines scale by adding qubits, and the gains compound fast. As Dillion said:

“With a quantum processor, if you have 2000 quantum processors and you want to double the power of your system, you only need to find one qubit. (…) So just one more node, and connect that to the rest of the system, and if you can do that, then you’ve doubled your compute power.”

Hardware makers don’t speak the same technical language. Google builds superconducting transmon chips, Microsoft works on topological Majorana 2 hardware, Amazon uses bosonic cat qubits, and each demands its own software approach. To connect them, Quip Network applies ZX calculus, a logic framework that describes quantum operations in one consistent form, then runs tasks through a unified Quantum Virtual Machine.

There’s a verification problem too. A classical node can’t easily confirm a quantum result without grinding through the same hard calculation. The network sidesteps this by relying on the hidden subgroup problem, which turns heavy processing into signatures that are quick to check.

During the current phase, classical and quantum machines compete through a layered proof-of-work system. In basic subnets, classical clusters running 80 H100 GPUs lose to quantum hardware 92% of the time. Push the classical setup to 1,000 H100 GPUs and those nodes win 66% of blocks.

Where the risks still sit

Quip Network adds post-quantum protection without forcing users to move their assets. It plugs Winternitz One-Time Signatures into existing multi-signature setups like Gnosis Safe. Dillion warned that wrapped token and liquid staking platforms remain exposed if the wallets owning their smart contracts aren’t quantum-resistant.

The team estimates a 10% chance that a cryptographically relevant quantum computer appears by March 2028. For a firm holding a vulnerable $20 billion Bitcoin wallet, Dillion said that probability already amounts to a $2 billion exposure.

The company plans to release open API access and a quantum randomness subnet later in 2026, with a token forge launch scheduled for late July.
