QuFi Launches Post-Quantum Verification Testnet and Node Presale


QuFi Network Limited announced the launch of its QuFi Platform, a verification layer designed to validate digital assets using post-quantum signatures before settlement. The company states its signatures build upon three NIST-standardized algorithms: ML-DSA-65, SLH-DSA, and ML-KEM-1024. Though these cryptographic choices are credible, the current release is a testnet proof-of-concept and a node presale, not a fully deployed product. QuFi is also still in the process of raising a seed round.

QuFi’s Actual Release

According to a September 4 press release, the platform functions as a layer above existing blockchains, and generates compact proofs for downstream systems to verify. The operational component is uBTC, described by QuFi as a proof-of-concept for verifying Bitcoin collateral. Its minting, burning, and redemption cycle operates on Bitcoin Testnet4, and redemptions settle as standard Bitcoin transactions.

The choice of cryptographic algorithms is notable for its specificity: ML-DSA-65 corresponds to FIPS 204, SLH-DSA to FIPS 205, and ML-KEM-1024 to FIPS 203. NIST finalized these algorithms in August 2024, which makes their inclusion a sound engineering decision. However, this does not confirm the scalability of QuFi’s system, nor has the company disclosed independent audits, throughput metrics, or any institutional clients.

QuFi’s general assertion about signature sizes is accurate. Post-quantum signatures are typically larger than the elliptic-curve signatures currently used in blockchains, which leads to increased storage and bandwidth demands.

Presale and Funding Round

Coinciding with the launch, QuFi initiated its Genesis Node Program and is accepting applications for node operators. The provided link for this program directs to a presale page. When a “quantum-safe” launch is accompanied by a node presale and an open seed round, the funding model warrants as much scrutiny as the technology itself. A presale involves selling network participation before the network operates at scale, and a seed round typically funds hiring and further development, not a launch of a finished product.

QuFi has also outlined plans for integrations with EVM-compatible chains, Stellar, and Solana. These are stated intentions. Co-founder Samson Lee articulated the company’s core idea in the press release:

“The industry is solving the quantum challenge one blockchain at a time, and that’s the most expensive way to solve it.”

Currently, there are no cryptographically relevant quantum computers. The threat QuFi aims to mitigate is the “harvest-now-decrypt-later” scenario, where encrypted data captured today could be decrypted in the future. This concern justifies the move to standardized post-quantum cryptography, but it does not inherently validate QuFi’s specific layer as the optimal solution.
