Anyon Systems Names KMT as Quantum Hardware Distributor


Anyon Systems, a Canadian quantum hardware manufacturer, has appointed KMT Technologies, a Matrix Group company, as its exclusive representative and distributor in select international markets. The agreement also designates KMT as an authorized installer and support partner for Anyon’s superconducting systems. The companies plan to train KMT engineers to commission these machines.

Agreement Details

Specifically, under the terms announced on August 31, KMT will handle sales, installation, integration, and lifecycle support for Anyon’s superconducting quantum computers in unspecified markets. Meanwhile, Anyon will certify KMT’s technical staff and continue to provide engineering support. The companies frame this collaboration as a combination of Anyon’s hardware expertise with Matrix Group’s experience in HPC, data centers, networking, and systems integration.

Notably, no sales or installations have occurred yet under this new arrangement. The exclusive distribution appointment establishes a sales channel; its success will depend on market demand, which neither company has quantified.

Anyon does have existing hardware in the field. Its MonarQ system operates at Calcul Québec within Canada’s HPC network, and has demonstrated its capability to build and deploy complete machines. The wider rollout described by the partners represents their future intentions.

Roadmap and Sovereign Focus

Anyon states it is developing a 72-qubit superconducting machine, with subsequent systems planned to exceed 100 physical qubits. The company also references fourth-generation control electronics aiming to provide its processors with direct RDMA connectivity to GPU infrastructure, presenting this as part of a roadmap. A processor with a few hundred physical qubits, without error correction, doesn’t yet offer useful computation. Anyon itself acknowledges that scalable, fault-tolerant systems are a longer-term objective.

Founder and CEO Alireza Najafi-Yazdi linked the agreement to this architectural vision:

“Building a better quantum processor is only one part of that challenge, the QPU, control electronics, classical compute and high-performance network ultimately have to operate as one integrated system.”

The press release emphasizes the demand for “sovereign and on-premises quantum systems” from governments and research institutions. This framing aligns with the interests of both the hardware vendor and its new distributor, who would benefit from such demand. KMT CEO Moshe Azar describes quantum as a “strategic move” for the company, marking its entry into the sector.
